First Overseas Icebreaker Order Secured 🚢❄️ HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has secured its first overseas order for a dedicated icebreaker, marking a key milestone for both the company and the South Korean shipbuilding industry. The $348.9 million contract with the Sjöfartsverket (Swedish Maritime Administration) covers a 126-meter Polar Class 4 icebreaker, scheduled for delivery in 2029. This achievement reflects growing global competitiveness in the icebreaker segment and strengthens the company’s position in the advanced special-purpose ship market. HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will continue expanding into global markets requiring icebreaking and specialized maritime capabilities. 🤝
